Control Officially Coming to Next-Gen Consoles February Next Year

The game, which was confirmed to be available for Nintendo Switch in October via cloud streaming – Control, will finally make its way to the next-gen console. It won’t take long for Control to launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on February 2, 2021. However, Remedy Entertainment as the developer will release the digital version first, while the physical version will only follow one month later.

On latest post on Control official Twitter account, Remedy shared several features that will be present in the next-gen version. One of them is the option to choose between performance mode or visual mode. In performance mode, Control will support frame-rates of up to 60 fps for smoother gameplay. While the visual mode, it will stay at 30 fps but with ray-tracing enabled.

The release of Control on the next-gen console itself had become a hot topic among gamers. How come? Unlike most games, Remedy and 505 Games as publishers do not offer free upgrades. That means, players who have Control on last-gen consoles such as PS4 and Xbox One, have to spend more if they want to enjoy Control on next-gen consoles.

However, the absence of free upgrade support only applies to the standard version of Control. Remedy had released an Ultimate Edition version that came with a post-release patch and two expansions on last-gen consoles. Now that’s the version that will get a free upgrade for the next-gen console.
