You Can Cosplay As NPC in Blue Protocol

So NPCs are completely in costume form.

Cosplay actually doesn’t come from Japan, despite the fact that the term was coined by a journalist from the country of Sakura. This costume game has been around since the 15th century called Masquerade Ball which is simply a party activity that involves people wearing costumes and masks.

Since the term cosplay was coined, some people began to popularize it as a different form. Starting from making costumes for a band concert until the band is famous. Until the most popular is imitating costumes from existing pop culture, for example films, animations, and video games. However, what if this was also implemented in video games? This is what Bandai Namco did in its latest MMORPG, Blue Protocol.

In a Twitter tweet, Bandai Namco Japan explained that players can use the NPC costumes in the Blue Protocol. They showed off the mechanics of the cosplay with a picture of the shopkeeper’s NPC costume worn by the player character.

The cosplay feature is actually not the first feature that is present in an MMORPG. Some games like Final Fantasy XIV has even implemented it with some of the main series character costumes. Starting from Cloud Strife, Lightning, Squall, even Snow. These costumes can be obtained for free just by diligently logging in or participating in the annual events they hold. Players must use the glamor look feature to replace the appearance of their armor with the appearance of the costume.

It is not yet clear what the mechanics of the cosplay feature that will be offered by Blue Protocol. Either it can be purchased through a premium item shop or it can be distributed for free like Final Fantasy XIV with a glamorous mechanism.

Blue Protocol currently being developed for PC. Bandai Namco also plans to release it to new generation consoles such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, but currently they are focusing on working on the game only on PC. They also explained that the game is likely to arrive as early as 2021 in Japan with an anime adaptation likely to become a reality.
