Electronic Arts Postpones Its EA Play Event

EA Play won’t go as planned.

COVID-19 is not the only reason why some video game companies have postponed their game events. The incident that happened to George Floyd in the United States because of the police who killed him and caused a protracted demonstration was another reason for them not to provide the latest information about the game they are currently working on.

Some companies such as Sony Interactive Entertainment are not showing off the PlayStation 5 event until the birthday celebration ARK: Survival Evolved are a few of the many companies that postpone their events. Bandai Namco itself didn’t even want to announce Project CARS 3 early, but due to late decision making at the last minute, they were forced to announce it. This is apparently also done by Electronic Arts for the EA Play event.

After releasing the average game on Steam, EA who plans to release the next wave of games on the Valve platform until EA Play has to postpone it. The event which was held on June 11, 2020 had to be postponed until June 18, 2020.

Similar to other game companies, EA claims to want to respect the voices of those who want to be heard. A strong reference to the current incident in the United States and the “Black Lives Matter” demonstration or if it translates to the importance of black lives. The demonstration strongly rejects racism and police brutality in one of these superpowers.

As of this writing, there is no clarity on what EA will do on EA Plays. But most likely it is the announcement of EA Access which will be accessible on Steam, until their collaboration with Valve. Let’s just wait!
