Below Zero itself has been in early access for almost two and a half years since January 2019. In comparison, the first game, Subnautica, entered the early access stage for a slightly longer period of three years. When released later, Below Zero will be immediately available on almost all platforms.

For those who are still unfamiliar or not following its development, Below Zero is set one year after the first game. In a new role, Below Zero challenges players to survive on another unspoiled side of Planet 4546B. Still the same as its predecessor, the game will also carry elements of exploration, building and crafting.

The new locations offered by Below Zero will have a cooler and icy environment theme, in addition to presenting several new unique creatures and other surprises. Plus, players are also given the freedom to choose between four difficulty levels, namely Survival (so the hardest), Freedom, Hardcore and Creative (so the least challenging).

Subnautica: Below Zero will release on May 14, 2021 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch as well as PC – via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
