SEGA accuses SteamDB of being a pirated gaming site
Yesterday, a Sega representative accused SteamDB of being one of the sites that illegally distributed Yakuza: Like a Dragon. These allegations surfaced after the owner of SteamDB wrote a tweet about the problem.
Furthermore, the SteamDB Founder also revealed the error that the Japanese company experienced.
Sega’s Accusations Against SteamDB
In a tweet, SteamDB founder Pavel Djundik said that lawyers from the Japanese company had tried to remove Yakuza: Like a Dragon from their site. According to claims circulating, they say that SteamDB has been distributing this game illegally.
In fact, this claim from Sega is incorrect and misguided. This can not be separated from the fact that SteamDB only provides information about various games on Steam and does not distribute the games.
SteamDB does not support piracy. We do not provide the download feature, sell it or link it to any website.
Says Pavel Djundik, Founder of SteamDB
Djundik notes that SteamDB receives at least one DMCA notification each year. Some companies mistakenly think that the website is acting as an illegal distributor. Not only that, Djundik has contacted Sega America and resolved this issue.
Previously, Yakuza: Like a Dragon was removed from SteamDB at Sega’s request. However, the page has returned and players can see various information about the game.
What is SteamDB?
SteamDB is basically a database website that provides all game information on Steam. Through this site, players can see the price of this game in each region. In fact, SteamDB also provides a direct link to this game’s page on Steam.
Almost all information about various games on Steam can be found on SteamDB. So, it’s no wonder why some companies think that the site is distributing games illegally. Moreover, the complete details regarding the games there make claims that SteamDB works illegally always occur.
