Team Sweeney: Hitman 3 will Import Previous Series Purchases from Steam
His presence on the Epic Games Store sparked confusion.
Switching to temporary exclusivity has become a common thing for developers to do with their games since the Epic Games Store was released. The store owned by Tim Sweeney provides a one-year exclusivity offer to every developer and publisher who wants to release their game on all platforms, including various stores on PC.

The exclusivity offer was paid for by the developer Unreal Engine 4 at a fairly high price. It makes developers and publishers who have even promised the community to release their games on Steam to lose their faith.
This kind of business model is bad enough for those who have made a promise to their community. But not for some developers who really need an injection of funds. Especially those who are back independent like IO Interactive.
Since being released by Square-Enix, IO Interactive has been trying to be independent by finding its own money to develop Hitman. They collaborated with Warner Bros. in their second iteration, while the latest series released this month they published themselves. But not for PC, because they collaborated with Epic Games to sell Hitman 3 in their shop for a year.
Hitman 3 will present all maps and stories from the trilogy, both the first and second series. However, this becomes a great confusion when it comes to releasing it on PC considering the previous iteration was released on Steam.
PC version Hitman 3 will be released exclusively on the Epic Games Store. As explained by IO Interactive, players who pre-order will get an Access Pass for Hitman GOTY which allowed them to incorporate all of their missions into the new iteration.
Meanwhile for players Hitman 2, they need to buy an Access Pass even if they already own the game. They are also required to connect the Steam account to the IO Interactive account and transfer the save data.
Sorry, the team is looking into this with IO. It’s never Epic’s intent to create a situation where someone who owns a game on Steam would have to buy it again on Epic Games Store to get the full benefits of it.

PCGamesN launched a tweet on Twitter stating that the Epic Games Store version of Hitman 3 will not import save data or data that the player has purchased the first and second series. Tim Sweeney as CEO of Epic Games replied to the tweet by saying that their team is currently discussing it with IO Interactive regarding this.
Sweeney further admitted that Epic Games did not plan to force players to buy the game back in their store even though they had bought it on Steam.
Of course this is still not getting a full decision, because they are currently determining how fans should be able to import purchase data from Steam or not. But seeing as Sweeney will do it, it looks like it might happen. Let’s just wait!
Hitman 3 planned for release on January 20, 2021 on PC (EGS), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Switch (Cloud), and Stadia.
