Ubisoft Will Shut Down Servers for Classic Online Games
Accompanying the players’ childhood, Ubisoft chose to shut down the servers of their classic online games such as Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands and The Settlers 7. Ubisoft also commented on this decision.
Why Ubisoft Turns Off Online Servers from Classic Games
According to information, Ubisoft said that they had the main reason for shutting down the server. Every server was forced to shut down considering that some of them could not meet the standards that the company had set. As a result, they choose to turn it off instead of looking for other ways to maintain it.
For your information, Ubisoft did have time to find a way to keep the server there. Unfortunately, they could not find the right option and according to what they wanted.
After the server is down, the working staff will be transferred to another project. That means, the future of every IT staff will remain guaranteed and this is one form of commitment from Ubisoft.
When is the Server Closed?
On June 1, servers for several games such as Anno 1404, Might & Magic – Clash of Heroes, Far Cry 2, Might * Magic X – Legacy, Assassin’s Creed 2, Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands, Splinter Cell Conviction, and The Settlers 7 will be lost. That means, you can’t enjoy it anymore.
While games like Rainbow Six Vegas, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, Rainbow Six Lockdown, and Ghost Recon Future Soldier remain standing. Even so, Ubisoft confirmed that the servers for these four games will die before 2021 ends. This leeway is deliberately given considering that these games still meet a few conditions.
Even so, these four games will not be enjoyed again in 2022. So, make sure you play them right now.
