7 PC Strategy Games to Wait For 2019-2020

Having fans who are not as busy as action games makes it difficult for developers and publishers to market their strategy games. Not to mention because strategy games are dominant on PC, piracy will always be the biggest scourge that continues to haunt their pockets. On the other hand, the onslaught of other game markets such as mobile games makes them tempted to get more benefits from mobile gamers. However, some of them still believe in their strong fanbase to continue making strategy games. Making indie developers dominate the market for the realm of strategy games.

We are now officially on the platform Tiktok! Follow our Tiktok account at @gamebrott.com to find various information and our other interesting video content.

Luckily, it looks like some big companies have started to pay attention to this market. Especially after a lot of encouragement from the old fans of the franchise to make a game that had stopped in their hearts as a child. Here are some PC strategy games to look forward to in 2019-2020.

7. Total War Saga: TROY

Total War is a game series that combines turn-based strategy with real-time strategy. Where you will manage the economy when not in a state of war in a number of turns, and control the movement of hundreds of your units when the war begins. The latest series will take the theme of ancient Greece with one of the iconic battles in the city called Troy which was ruled by the eastern Roman empire. Different from the previous series, Total War Saga: TROY there will be gods who are worshiped by the community. Pleasing them will bring you and your people good in your life. On the other hand, if you make them angry, then evil will befall all your kingdoms. This game is scheduled to be released in 2020.

6. Panzer Corps 2

Being one of the kings of the strategy sub-genre, namely “wargames” in the first series, did not make Flashback Games give up on presenting its second iteration. Panzer Corps 2 still offers a game like a wargame where all your units will be represented in a giant unit on a map with a turn-based game model. The game offers more content with the setting of the second world war as the stage. There are more than 60 campaign mode scenarios with over 1000 different units. It also gives you 10 additional single player scenarios and 10 multiplayer scenarios complete with mod support which they added with the Scenario Editor. Make it a game that is not only suitable for connoisseurs of the strategy genre but also chess players out there.

5. Stronghold Warlords

Series Stronghold has experienced ups and downs in its work. Previously, Firefly Studios continued to focus on the kingdoms of the Middle East and Europe, now they are trying to change direction by highlighting the kingdoms in East Asia. Some of them are Vietnam, China, Japan, and Mongolia. Several new warlord units, settings, and systems are promised to be present in the game. Even though everything is new, Firefly Studios still wants to introduce the classic mechanics that had become the hallmark of the game Stronghold in the past. Starting from the construction of buildings that return to the grid system, to the focus on the state of your kingdom’s economy. You can also recruit new warlords on the map by using a new currency called diplomacy points. They will help you in battle, such as delivering raw materials.

4. Iron Harvest

It comes with the promise of robots and incredible destruction physiques to make Iron Harvest one of the strategy games Company of Heroes which must be awaited. The game, which tells the conflict between three factions: Polania, Saxony Empire, and Rusviet, is set in 1980+, an alternate world created by an artist named Jakub Rozalski. There are more than 40 units that you can control in each faction, including heroes and robots. You can also build supporting buildings to protect the mining process and as a shelter for your units to win some points scattered throughout the map.

3. Warcraft III Reforged

Warcraft III is the last iteration of the real time strategy game series Warcraft which adapted the game’s base system from Command & Conquer but changed that way. The game made by Blizzard will now be made a remastered version with the title Reforged. It will present the same concept as the original version but with a better visual appearance with 3D models and new UI for all modes, from the main gameplay to the world editor. While the resolution will now support 16:9 to 4K. You can choose many factions ranging from human, orc, night elves, to the undead complete with an epic story. It is not yet clear when the game will be released, but the pre-order page provides a deadline of December 31, 2019. Indication Blizzard will release it first.

2. Age of Empires IV

Not a true strategy game fan yet if you don’t know the series Age of Empires. This game, which has been around since 1997, carries a royal theme that you might have learned in world history. The series continues into 2019 with re-releases Definitive Edition which comes with a better visual appearance. Now, Microsoft and Relic Entertainment are trying to continue it into the fourth series. Unfortunately, until now Microsoft has only provided a teaser and nothing more. So we can’t predict anything about the game yet. But if you have to theorize, I predict the game could be multi-century with technological changes from ancient to super-sophisticated like Empire Earth or until the world war.

1. Command & Conquer Remastered & Red Alert Remastered

Yes, he’s back. Even though last year Electronic Arts seemed to insult its players with the release Rivals on mobile. But in the end they confirmed that the game Command & Conquer Remastered and Red Alert Remastered to return to the PC. In collaboration with the former original developers (Westwood Studios) who have now established a new studio namely Petroglyph, Electronic Arts believes they can revitalize the franchise which has become the standard for real time strategy games worldwide by Remastered. Different from the original series, the remastered version will change several things, including the visual appearance to the UI for building buildings and your production units. Unfortunately, as of this writing, they are still reluctant to show the new face of Command & Conquer Remastered and Red Alert Remastered.

Those are 7 strategy games that you must wait for in 2019-2020. Which one will you wishlist and play? I know, choosing between Command & Conquer, Age of Empires, and Warcraft is a very difficult choice. However, you have to choose anyway. I’m grateful to be able to choose all three.
