Astria Ascending, Final Fantasy Veteran's JPRG Game Announced

Astria Ascending is a turn-based JRPG game made by Artisan Studio that promises players an epic story through 2D hand-drawn visuals that are simple but pleasing to the eye. Players will be invited to go on an adventure in Orcanon, a place that was previously raised by Kobojo’s RPG game titled Zodiac: Orcanon Odyssey.

Long story short, Kazushige Nojima – writer for several Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts games, and Hitoshi Sakimoto – music composer for a number of JRPG games such as Final Fantasy 12 and Vagrant Story, took part in the development of the game. But unfortunately, Zodiac: Orcanon Odyssey did not get a good response from critics and players.

Instead, Astria Ascending was finally created to revive the world of the Zodiac: Orcanon Odyssey, complete with the return of Sakimoto and Nojima as composers and storytellers. Although the world that is carried will be the same, Astria Ascending still comes with differences, especially in terms of the story. Players will control 8 characters known as Demigods, on a mission against an enemy named Moises who threatens the balance of the world.

Announced at the event [email protected], Astria Ascending will have a gameplay duration of more than 50 hours, more than 20 dungeons to explore, dynamic weather system, various minigames and fantasy themed card games. It is also mentioned that players can visit 5 cities inhabited by more than 200 different monsters and they can “collect” some legendary ones to fight with.

Astria Ascending is currently still in development and is slated to arrive on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC.
