BenQ Zowie XL2546 Review – 240Hz Gaming Monitor Ready to Help Concentration Be More Precise

Although not as popular as abroad, eSports is indeed one of the video game sports that has tremendous potential if developed very well in Indonesia. The sport that was first triggered in scene PC gaming in 1972 required not only personal skills, but also teamwork. As the development of the game is increasingly competitive and fast, it also requires increasingly sophisticated equipment to support it.

We are now officially on the platform Tiktok! Follow our Tiktok account at @gamebrott.com to find various information and our other interesting video content.

Not surprisingly, various vendors from all over the world are competing to achieve equipment standards. Keyboards, mice, and headsets are among the most crucial gadgets designed to make athletes not only feel at home in front of the screen, but also make it easier for them to launch all their abilities. Not only these three peripherals, the monitor is also one of the important things that should not be missed.

Unlike monitors made for designers, most eSports monitors support fast response times with super high refresh rates. Sacrifice color accuracy to achieve the target. However, it seems quite different from the Zowie XL2546. This product from BenQ is certainly not a foreign name for eSports activists, its work over the years has proven that the 240Hz monitor is able to accompany athletes in maximizing their abilities in competitive matches. Then, how about the performance? Before continuing further, it would be better if we looked at the specifications of the monitor that became the world’s eSports standard.

Tough Specifications

BenQ Zowie XL2546 is the official monitor for the PUBG Pro Tour 2018 eSport tournament, PUBG Global Invitational 2018, and PUBG Asia Invitational 2019. This 24.5-inch monitor that supports 1920x1080p resolution has a refresh rate of 240Hz. It is also equipped with a pair of shields on the right and left sides of the monitor and a stand that can be adjusted according to individual preferences. Here are the full specifications:

The outside on the panel does look similar to other 24-inch monitors, but it feels different when you see the position of the panel that is slightly inward. At the bottom right of the monitor there are five on-screen display buttons to adjust the color sharpness and lightness according to your preferences and one power button to turn it on. While the back on the left of the monitor there are two audio jacks and two USB slots.

There is a button that when you press it can be pulled into a headset stand.

Interestingly, there is a button that if pressed and pulled out will become a headset stand to hang the headset when you are tired of playing games. Making it is designed exclusively only for eSport matches and looks much different from ordinary monitors on the market.

On the back, there are two HDMI ports, a display port and a DVI port, and a microphone jack that you can use.

Lazy to press the display button? Calm! You can use the S-Switch to switch presets remotely.

Another thing that makes Zowie XL2546 different from the others is a remote-like device called S-Switch that can be used to adjust monitor settings and save them as presets so you don’t have to set them again when used by someone else. There are three presets that can be stored in the S-Switch which are marked with buttons 1, 2, and 3.

How to install this monitor is also not so difficult, you only need to install the parts without the need to use a screwdriver or turn a screw to tighten it. It’s like plug and play like installing a keyboard on your PC.

With the pretty cool specs above, then how does it feel when we’ve managed to test drive a few games?

240 Hz Makes It Feel Smoother When Playing Games

Skepticism is my view when assuming that 60Hz and 240Hz monitors are the same and still ignoring those who have enjoyed them first. But after trying it, my view of the monitor with a high refresh rate immediately changed sharply. There are many opinions that say that the human eye cannot distinguish 60 fps from more than 144 fps. Even some video game gameplay with more than 144 fps-even at first glance it feels the same. However, the experience of enjoying fps more than 144 fps cannot be decided just by watching it on the internet, but by experiencing it for yourself.

At a glance, the BenQ Zowie XL2546 monitor can’t really display sharp color accuracy thanks to using a TN panel, but its very high refresh rate makes me who is used to playing games on a 60Hz monitor feel differently. Aim and precision when playing Apex Legends feels more accurate than when I use my regular monitor. Although the PC that I use is not able to handle the game up to 240fps and only able to run the game up to around 90-130fps, this doesn’t cover the fact that the enjoyment of playing competitive games is more comfortable if you play it above 100fps. The images are also clearer and it’s easy to spot multiple enemies with quick reflexes without any screen-tearing or other technical issues.

It’s different with Apex Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive which is able to run around 220-240fps makes me pangling and have to reset the sensitivity of the mouse that I use to make it more comfortable. This is because the movement of the mouse feels faster than the settings that I usually use.

This indeed cannot be shown through a screenshot, but with the video above, it seems to be able to answer it.

DyAc Makes Aim More Precise

In the product description, BenQ himself said that DyAc, which is a technology that is only available in the Zowie variant, will help players when shooting in some shooter games. Of course this cannot be seen with the naked eye and can only be felt according to the experience of each player.

I was initially still skeptical interested in trying it. And sure enough, aim me at Apex Legends feels more precise when compared to using other monitors.

Curious what makes it look like that, we tried to record it using the camera while playing Counter-Strike Global Offensive by setting the bot to be in the front position of the player. At first glance, it doesn’t look any different at all, but once the video is slowed down and stopped while moving, it appears that using DyAc clarifies the enemy’s position without any disturbance, so the view from a fraction of a frame is clearly visible. Make aiming that is right on target become more precise. Meanwhile, if DyAc is turned off, it appears that there is a shadow that is still left when I move the mouse in another direction.

Enemies Can’t Hide In The Dark If Black Equalizer Is On

Black Equalizer makes dark areas bright.

Another feature that I think feels like a cheat is the Black Equalizer which will light up all the dark corners around the map when it is activated. Your enemy is in Counter Strike Global Offensive won’t be able to hide in the dark and attack suddenly from behind when you activate it. Interestingly, when this feature is activated, the eyes will not feel tired if you look at it continuously when compared to increasing the brightness option on your monitor.

Color Vibrance Will Clarify Enemy Position

Illuminating a dark corner of the map with a black equalizer is certainly not complete without being accompanied by sharp colors to find out the position of the enemy hiding, even at a considerable distance. But calm down, because the color vibrance feature of the Zowie XL2546 will help you overcome everything. With this feature, you will be able to find out the position of the enemy hiding in various angles because the color will look more striking.

Combining it with the Black Equalizer will give you an appearance that will make it easier for you to find some enemies hiding in the dark and guarantee that you will be able to distinguish them from the bushes and other places.

Anti-Shake with Square Feet Design

In addition to internal features that are very practical and helpful when playing competitive games, Zowie XL2546 is designed with external functions that will provide comfort at any time. As previously mentioned, the monitor frame is built with features that make it easier to assemble like a keyboard. However, there is another thing that is BenQ’s mainstay weapon in its design, namely the shape of the anti-shake flat box legs.

As in the video that you can see above, that this monitor will remain firmly standing and will not sway easily when the table gets a fairly strong shock. Minimize your concentration, when there are many distractions that come from friends, family, or maybe nature.

Shields and Frames that will Give Additional Focus

The monitor foot is not the only part that will help you, the frame and shield also play an important role when using it. The frame design that is thick and protrudes like a painting frame is made with the same concept so that you focus on seeing the screen panel that displays the game being played. While the shield will protect your view from some distractions to focus more on the screen and ignore some of the “distractions” around you.

So Is This The Monitor For You?

With a price of about 8 million rupiah, of course for me personally this monitor is quite expensive. However, with many features that will help you gain more concentration in order to achieve precise aim in many competitive games, this monitor is very suitable for the stated price. Especially for those of you who want to pursue your career in the realm of eSports thanks to its features that are proven to be comfortable to play for hours.

240Hz may be the standard refresh rate frequency which is high enough for gaming, but this feature will guarantee you want to have it if you have tried it thanks to its convenience when playing shooter games. I, who often override this feature, are now actually interested in having it thanks to its services in improving the performance of my aim. Well, although not entirely this can be achieved thanks to the help of the monitor alone, but because the hours of playing games are quite high as well.

The Zowie XL2546 monitor is perfect for those of you who want to master shooter games more comfortably. It can help you to increase your concentration while playing games, train your aim to be more precise, in order to pursue your career in the world of eSports, especially for shooter games.
