A Blizzard representative said that after collaborating with Vicarious Visions for some time and developing a good relationship, they realized that there was an opportunity for Vicarious Visions to provide long-term support. As part of the move, Jean Oneal, head of the studio, was promoted to executive vice president for development at Blizzard.
In his new position, Oneal will join Blizzard’s main team and report directly to the president, J. Allen Barack, while his team members get new assignments. The main headquarters of Vicarious Visions will not change and will remain in Albany, New York.
Vicarious Visions itself has a very long history in the video game industry. They may not be as big as Infinity Ward or Treyard, but developers who have been operating for 30 years, still have an important part for Activision as the parent company. Since its acquisition in 2005, Vicarious Visions has worked on games such as Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro and ported a number of the popular Activision game series to mobile platforms.
