Dev The Division to Work on Open World Star Wars Game

As we already know, Lucasfilm Games has just announced that they will be handling all the game titles Star Wars in the future. In other words, they can choose at will which developers will work on it. Of course, in addition to their contract with EA, it will continue until 2023.

At the same time, Lucasfilm Games announced that they have teamed up with Ubisoft to work on a new open world game Star Wars. The game will be handled by Massive Entertainment or Ubisoft Massive, the developers behind the success Tom Clancy’s The Division.

Until now, it is not clear game Star Wars like what Ubisoft will develop. But what is clear is Massive Entertainment is opening vacancies to work on it.
Julian Gerighty, director The Division 2 and The Crew appointed as Creative Director. While the Snowdrop engine used for The Division will be used as the basis for new game development Star Wars.
Ubisoft itself through a press release sent to us explained that this collaboration will be a long-term collaboration with Disney and Lucasfilm Games. Lucasfilm Games VP, Douglas Reilly explained that Ubisoft has a unique talent for creating immersive worlds that he feels are in line with their vision.
Julian Gerighty explains that the world and lore Star Wars is something they really love and they want to make it happen through video games and stories that will attract new fans again.
Ubisoft didn’t elaborate on what the game was like, but they promised to provide more information in the future.
EA and Disney have previously signed a 10-year contract since 2013 for franchise exclusivity Star Wars. But Lucasfilm is free to find a new partner who will develop its next game. In other words, it is likely that the games developed by Ubisoft will be released after 2023.
