Discord Reportedly Turned Down a Rp 145 Trillion Offer from Microsoft, Preferring to Stay Independent

A few weeks ago, Microsoft reportedly interested in buying Discord with a fantastic value of $ 10 billion or around Rp. 145 trillion. Now according to a report from Bloomberg, the popular online chat and community application reportedly rejected the offer.

Not only Microsoft, several other big companies ranging from Epic Games and Amazon are also reportedly interested in buying them, but even with the evocative offers given, Discord has reportedly decided to remain independent.

Discord currently has 140 million monthly users and generated $130 million in revenue in 2020, but that number is still not profitable, according to a Wall Street Journals report.

Discord

Microsoft has been aggressively buying game studios in recent years and the planned purchase of Discord is likely to be used as a base for online chat applications on Xbox and Surface laptops. Not only for voice-chat, Discord is also a place for communities to gather, this can be used by Microsoft as a base for their gaming community forum or also for content creators/influencers.

WSJ wrote that there is still a possibility that the two companies will discuss the acquisition offer again. But for now, Discord has decided to continue to operate under its own direction.
