[First Impression] Code Vein - Fresh Souls-like with a Wetness feel!
Offering a super high difficulty level as the main attraction is the main strength of souls-like based games. Born through the cold hands of From Software, the popularity of the genre has skyrocketed and has become an inspiration for other developers & publishers, one of which is Bandai Namco.

From Software and Bandai Namco have indeed worked together on the three Dark Souls titles, but this time Bandai Namco wants to mix up a new souls-like title without the intervention of the reliable developer. Through Code Vein, they were finally able to present a new souls-like title with the theme “Anime” as the main foundation.
And it must be admitted, that Code Vein is here as a new souls-like title that feels “fresh” and more “friendly”. Through the first 8 hours of impressions, we feel that Code Vein has a fresh theme that is highly anticipated by Wibu and anime fans. That instead of being presented with a super gripping feel with a row of mysterious and scary characters in the style of the Soulsborne series, you will be faced with characters who look “spooky”.
We are talking about “waifu material”, for example, where the female characters have designs that are ready to captivate men. The storytelling is also presented explicitly and clearly, where dramatization and emotional messages can be presented “really anime”.
Code Vein has a combat mechanism that feels faster, complete with various combos and cool abilities that can be launched. One more thing that we clearly feel is that Code Vein feels more friendly than the Soulsborne title made by From Software. Where each challenge that exists often does not require much time and experimentation to be submitted. One of the reasons is because you will be accompanied by a companion who is quite reliable during battle.
In this first impression, we did face a lot of things that felt challenging, but still not enough to really make us fall to the most frustrating point. But we believe Code Vein still has many surprise challenges and other bosses that are ready to shrink our hearts.
We also believe that there are many other cool things that make this game have its own identity when compared to the Soulsborne series. But of course we will review all of these in more detail through a full review, which hopefully can slide in the next few days. While waiting, here are a myriad of Code Vein screenshots to give more impressions for those of you who are interested.
