Google Creates Its Own SoC For Its Smartphones

Google has officially announced that they have now made a self-developed chip. They succeeded in making the chipset after working with Samsung.

Reporting from XDA, the SoC developed by Google has been released and is expected to be installed on Pixel series phones. The chip is codenamed ‘Whitechapel’ and is equipped with an 8-core CPU built on the 5nm FinFet process.

In fact, this isn’t the first time Google has experimented with making custom chips. In 2017, they teamed up with Intel to develop the Pixel Visual Core for the Pixel 2, which was retained for the Pixel 3. Google is now also known to have recruited a number of chip experts from companies such as Apple and Intel.

From this perspective, it seems that the competition between Huawei and Google will continue to the chip level. And Huawei can usher in even greater challenges.

However, at this time the officials from Huawei have not issued a response. But what is clear is that the competition between Google and Huawei on chips has also begun.

Besides, the fact is that sales of Huawei’s flagship series and P series smartphones have always crushed the Google Pixel series.
