Guild Wars 2 Is Coming to Steam Later This Year

The end of the year is a new hope for players who want to play the game.

Of the many MMORPG games out there, Guild Wars 2 is one of the best in this genre. Unfortunately, it looks like they’ve had a shortage of players for the past few years. Even after the basic game is permanently free where players only need to buy the expansion. This makes ArenaNet have to think of new ways to bring in new players for the game. And Steam was chosen to be the solution.

Through the game’s anniversary livestream and its official forum, ArenaNet announced that Guild Wars 2 will visit Steam in November 2020. They want to invite new players to explore Tyria with the community they have formed over the last few years.

“Transfer” Guild Wars 2 Steam also allows players to play with players who have become veteran game players via the ArenaNet launcher on one server. In other words, players don’t need to have the same client to play it.

Unfortunately, there is bad news for older players who want to move their accounts to the Steam version or vice versa. This is because ArenaNet made it clear that the feature is not available to them.

This case is similar to Final Fantasy XIV The Steam version and the launcher version are separate from the official website, where players who have a game license on Steam will not be able to use accounts from the official website version.

As of this writing, ArenaNet still has not provided more detailed information on when Guild Wars 2 will be released on Steam other than November 2020.

Guild Wars 2 now it can be played for free on PC via the official launcher. The game will be coming to Steam in November 2020. Meanwhile, players who want to continue the story can buy the expansion provided by ArenaNet.
