But the controversy with various developers including Kojima Productions itself made them fall into a deeper abyss. Despite the fact that their franchise is still alive.

This downturn has led to various fan assumptions that Konami will no longer be involved in the video game industry as a whole and will only focus on pachinko and arcades. The signal got stronger when they decided to “crush down” their production division.

Through their official website, Konami announced that they had officially disbanded the production division for the internal reconstruction of all members. Owner company Silent Hill The statement confirms that they are not shutting down their video game division.

Konami changed several personnel, one of which was to appoint Hideki Hayakawa as CEO, Shoji Dewa as Senior Executive Officer, and Koji Kobayashi as Executive Officer. Meanwhile, staff from the disbanded Production Division will join General Production and Product Support.

This decision was made to cope with the super-fast growth of the market they are currently living in. Its internal reconstruction will take effect on February 1, 2021.
