Pokemon Fans Protest Unsuitable Pokemon Anime

Reporting from Gamerant, The Pokemon Company, apologized to the protesting fandom members. The latest incident involves complaints about Pokemon Sword and Shield about the Pokemon Anime series circulating on Youtube, namely Pokemon: Twilight Wings

Pokemon: Twilight Wings released its latest episode on April 21, focusing on gym leader Nessa. It wasn’t long before some fans were outraged by the Pokemon featured in the episode. The Pokemon in question is Dewgong with water and ice type generation 1 which appeared in the latest episode.

The crux of the problem is that Pokemon Dewgong cannot be caught or obtained in any way in the Pokemon Sword and Shield series. This again reminds fans of the National Dex controversy that drew strong protests before and after the game’s release. The Pokemon Company apologized via its Official Japan Twitter Account. The tweet apologized for the inappropriate Occurrence of a Pokemon that didn’t exist at all in Sword and Shield.

Last year, the National Dex issue itself has become quite a long debate. The Pokemon franchise currently has 890 Pokemon across all eight generations of the game. The newest entry, Pokemon Sword and Shield for Nintendo Switch only has 400 Pokemon with the remaining 490 which cannot be obtained in any way.

What caused even more outrage was that even though Pokemon Home had been released, players were still unable to transfer Pokemon that weren’t on the original roster. This led to mass protests that prompted angry comments against the game’s development team, Game Freak, over the matter.

Some would argue that the inclusion of Dewgong itself is not a mistake, but rather a tease or hint for the upcoming DLC ​​for both games. Two major expansions are being released for Pokemon Sword and Shield with Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra. However, this is still just fan speculation.

The new expansion will increase the size of the current Pokédex to over 200 Pokémon, both new and old. However, some fans don’t see this as a tease, but may instead believe it to be an insult to the National Dex case.
