Sony Finally Explains Why the Playstation 5 Console Is So Big

And the question of why this console is so tall is immediately answered by Sony. Answered directly by the Vice President of User Experience Design from Sony – Matt MacLaurin via the LinkedIn page found by VG247 that the main reason why the PS5 has to be so big is because of the “heat” problem.

“This generation is a bit like a supercomputer. While the 7nm process provides outstanding thermal performance for the power expended, the power output is extreme. ” MacLaurin wrote in the comments. “This technology is still so new that it dissipates a lot of heat so we (Sony) need space to dissipate the heat“.

When we talk about Playstation 4, of course we are presented with a minimalist and concise design. But of course all PS4 users will face problems with the heat on their consoles, as well as the sound of the engine roaring loudly when the PS4 console is working hard.
