Mediatek Releases Dimensity 820 on the Market, Mid-range 5G Chipset

Mediatek, one of the android chipset vendors this week has announced a new 5G chipset for their middle class. This chipset is DImensity 820 which is a 5G chipset at an affordable price so that it can be used for mid-range phones.

In terms of specifications, on paper, this chipset is only one step below the Dimensity 1000 which is the flagship chipset from Mediatek. Even so, this chipset still has a quality that is not far from the Dimensity 1000.

“With the new Dimensity 820 we are now making 5G more accessible,” said Assistant General Manager, Wireless Communications Business Unit, Meidatek, Yenchi Lee.

Compared to the previous generation, the Dimensity 800. Dimensity 820 has several improvements in several sectors, including the aspect of the processor (CPU). This chipset is built with 7 nanometer (nm) fabrication technology and is equipped with an eight-core (octa-core) CPU.

Where the eight CPU cores consist of four Cortex-A76 processor cores with a clock speed of 2.6 GHz and four Cortex-A55 processor cores clocked at 2.0 GHz. This CPU is then combined with a graphics processor (GPU) which is ARM Mali G57, similar to its predecessor.

Even though it uses the same GPU, the Dimensity 820 is slightly different, this GPU is also accompanied by HyperEngine 2.0 technology, which allows you to get a more comfortable gaming experience than the previous generation.

The Dimensity 820 itself is equipped with an integrated 5G chipset that supports sub-6GHz networks, both stand alone (SA) and non-stand alone (NSA).

Another feature of the Mediatek Dimensity 820 is the screen that supports a refresh rate of 120 Hz which is capable of displaying images up to Full HD Plus resolution.

Mediatek Dimensity 820 also has an image processing chip (ISP) Imagiq 5.0 which is now capable of accommodating cameras up to 80 MP resolution, along with configuration support for up to four cameras, 4K video recording features, and electronic image stabilizer (EIS).
