New Batman Game "Gotham Knights" Will Tell Batman Dead

Batman is certainly the main icon of DC both in the world of comics, movies, and video games. Especially after Rocksteady’s success in making the Arkham trilogy which set a new standard for super hero games. Long after, a new game for Batman has long been rumored to be here. And finally all these rumors were answered when finally the latest Batman game was announced at the DC FanDome Online Event.

But this Batman game seems to be different from the previous Arkham series, because the first developer of this game is Warner Bros. Montreal instead of Rocksteady. And the second in this game takes a quite surprising background, namely when Bruce Wayne aka the Dark Knight dies.

At least that’s what is shown in the inaugural trailer which provides a video stating that he died to his successors or “Bat Family” namely Robin, Bat Girl, Nightwing, and Red Hood to continue to protect Gotham who is at risk of being attacked again by super villains when they learn that Batman is gone.

The trailer also shows another little surprise where the big mastermind behind the Gotham Knight story is Court of Owl which will certainly be a completely new direction for the nemesis arc for Batman, or at least for the 4 Gotham Knights who will act.

With the existence of these 4 characters, WB Montreal has also made the game an open world game with the ability to be played solo or in 2-player co-op. And this is shown in the gameplay trailer which shows the adventurous Bat Girl assisted by Robin to fight Mr. Freeze.

It can be seen from the gameplay shown that this game also includes RPG aspects, namely the level of the enemies, the variety of styles to complete the mission, and the big enemy in the trailer is Mr. Freeze that has thick blood like in an RPG game.

WB Montreal itself is informed that it has confirmed that this game is a new universe with a storyline that has no connection with the Arkham series (Perhaps including their Arkham Origin too). This game itself is planned to be released in 2021 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and of course PC platforms.
